Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

• Speedometer jumps erratically. Gauge may go up to 200 MPH or not return to zero.

• Fuel gauge does not move off empty when tank is full.

• Engine coolant temperature gauge reads hot and coolant temperature light illuminates.

These conditions may be intermittent.

Correction
Technicians are to reprogram the IPC with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration was released with TIS satellite data update version 1.0 available January 10, 2005. As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.

Important: Vehicles built after the VIN breakpoint must have the IPC replaced to correct these conditions

Condition
Some customers may comment that rough motion can be felt during front seat forward and rearward movements.

Correction
To smooth the forward and rearward operation of the seat, install a seat track dampener to both front seats using the procedure listed below.





Move the seat to the mid-position using the seat controls. Mid-position is when the front of the track rails are level.
Raise the seat to the full up position using the seat controls.



For older vehicles that do not have the cable tray-style wiring harness (built prior to March 2004), release the seat cushion cover flap J-clip.
Remove the side cover.
Remove the two front seat frame-to-cushion mounting nuts.
Important: Take care not to overstretch any of the wires when you tilt the seat backward.


Tilt the seat backward. On vehicles with the seat cushion cover flap, the flap will catch on the track assembly. It is not necessary to completely remove the flap as this will protect the wires from being stretched too far.






On later vehicles with the cable tray-style wiring harness (built after March 2004), unclip the cable tray from the track by lifting the front clips. Pull the cable tray forward to disengage the rear clips.



Position the dampener, P/N 92138926, by aligning the retaining tang over the motor mount flange and the friction pads over the drive shaft.



Tap the dampener retaining tang into place with a hammer.



The illustration above shows the dampener in its final position.
Reinstall the cable tray, if applicable.



Move the track until the driveshaft V-grooves are in the upper position.



Important: In the next step, be sure to place paper under the area to protect the carpet from any drips.


Apply Permatex® 68040, GM P/N 12377901, or equivalent, to the groove until half-filled and work into the joint under the plastic spacer.
Operate the seat back and forth several times for a distance of 100 mm (4 in). After this, DO NOT operate the seat for at least 1 hour to allow the Permatex® to set.
Lower the seat cushion onto the mounts and reinstall the nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 28N·m(21 lb ft).

Reattach the cover flap where applicable.
Reinstall the side cover.
Repeat this procedure on the other front seat

Condition
Some customers may comment that the front seat does not move forward when the "easy entry" lever is unlatched and the seat back is tilted forward.

Cause
This condition may be caused by poor retention of the micro switch in its housing. If the switch is loose, the "easy entry" lever cam will fail to activate the switch.

Correction
Replace the micro switch assembly. Refer to Front Seat Back Position Switch Housing Assembly in SI (Document ID #1609630).

Condition
Some customers may comment on a low tire pressure condition.

Diagnosis of the low tire pressure condition indicates an air leak through the cast aluminum wheel.

Cause
Porosity in the cast aluminum wheel may be the cause.

Correction
Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate service procedure in SI.
Locate the leaking area by inflating the tire to 276 kPa (40 psi) and dipping the tire/wheel assembly in a water bath, or use a spray bottle with soap and water to locate the specific leak location.
Important:

• If the porosity leak is located in the bead area of the aluminum rim (where the tire meets the rim), the wheel should be replaced.

• If two or more leaks are located on one wheel, the wheel should be replaced.


If air bubbles are observed, mark the location.
- If the leak location is on the tire/rubber area, refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 04-03-10-001A or newer - Tire Puncture Repair Procedures for All Cars and Light Duty Trucks (SI Document ID #1573203).

- If the leak is located on the aluminum wheel area, continue with the next step.

Inscribe a mark on the tire at the valve stem in order to indicate the orientation of the tire to the wheel.
Dismount the tire from the wheel. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting (SI Document ID #1332544).
Scuff the INSIDE rim surface at the leak area with #80 grit paper and clean the area with general purpose cleaner, such as 3M® General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, P/N 08984, or equivalent.
Apply a 3 mm (0.12 in) thick layer of Silicone - Adhesive/Sealant, GM P/N 12378478 (Canadian P/N 10953493) or equivalent, to the leak area.
Allow for the adhesive/sealant to dry.
Notice: Caution must be used when mounting the tire so as not to damage the sealer. Damaging the repair area may result in an air leak.

Align the inscribed mark on the tire with the valve stem on the wheel.
Mount the tire on the wheel. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting (SI Document ID #1332544).
Pressurize the tire to 276 kPa (40 psi) and inspect for leaks.
Adjust tire pressure to meet the placard specification.
Balance the tire/wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Assembly Balancing - Off-Vehicle (SI Document ID #664222).
Install the tire and wheel assembly onto the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate service procedure in SI.

Well....Your suspension bushings will go quickly...actually they were shot before the car landed in the USA. Mainly strut tower bushings/radius rod bushings.

Is there any way to get these TSB's for free?

Not feeling like paying for them.

My drivetrain is clunking and has been since I bought her. I'm trying to determine if its a suspension issue or my 10 bolt is going.

I'm also still covered under warranty.

Not all TSB's are "free" usually it's just a guide to get the dealer to service the correct part/issue ASAP instead of hunting for it....but if it's under warranty it should def be covered..............
