I try to mask or lay old blakets sheet down when I spray it.
But it is tough to get off sometimes I will use alcohol to get it off windows.
Dont do this on the paint it will take the wax off.
I would leave the top up in the garage it is not goog for it to be down for long periods of time.

thanks for the info slikws6. I didn't think wiping the protectant off paint (black) sounded very good.

quick detailer gets it right off of the paint for me. I'll take an old sheet, pop the latches, lower it slightly. Leave the windows up. drape the sheet over the wind shield/windows, the put the top back all the way up. Poof u've masked off over half already. Some tucked towels around the rear quarters and sheet over the deck lid finishes it off.
good luck.

If you're just applying conditioner to the rag top, try spraying the protectant/conditioner on a rag away from the vehicle and then wipe the soaked bastard on it. No over spray then. I do my wheels like that sometimes.
