I have video, but no clue how to post it. I pulled hard from a 50 roll until I was due to hit fourth, my clutch locked, I missed the shift, and got SMOKED! It also turns out the MK3 was probably puttin 400 to the ground with 18 psi and a mild tune. By all rights he should have me even if I didnt miss the shift, but I did pull on him until I had clutch failure. Now I will either rebuild my engine, or get a new ls6 for 3400$. Decisions decisions....... But I will be back on the road next year.
I think picking up an LS6 long block for $3400 would be your best bet. You can rebuild yours, but there's nothing like a brand new motor. All you would need to do is purchase that and just bolt on all your components and accessories, and you'd be set. Everything will swap right over.

Maybe go to a motor exchange and have them build you an LS1/6 with parts you provide and give them your core motor. Build it right from the ground up and swap over your bolt-ons.

My mechanic is recommending a strong rebuild and just modding out the heads, maybe a cam. If its just in the top end. If it's bottom end then time for a forged crank, some serious pistons, rods, all the goodies. Im also thinking if I can save enough on the rebuild, maybe a new 6 spd (mines kinda tired) or a rebuild and bulletproofing of the one I have, and then a real exhaust (magnaflow 3inch 3 1/2 tips) and some subframe connectors and a few other suspension/ ride strengtheners. Plus I still have to install the cat (highflow) and a Im doing an electric cutout at that time. Then the tune. Woot.
