    Daily Driver: 01-02 Firebird V6

Last year my WS6 became my daily driver. She just hit 25K miles, so I am going to start looking for another daily driver. She'll be the project/weekend car.

I love driving my Firebird everyday, so I decided to buy a V6 Firebird (A4). I am looking to spend around $5000.

So my question is for all you V6 owners out there... What problems/issues should I look out for when looking at the V6 Firebirds? Are they just as reliable as the LS1?

The 3.8 is every bit as reliable as the LS1, and honestly probably even more reliable. They should have all the same issues the trans ams do (cracking door panels, slow window motors, etc.). With that pice your prolly going to looking a bit higher milage, so just be attentive of all things that come with that.

**edit** also incase it happens (and im sure it will) they respond very well to mods. Their peppy from factory, but add a few bolt ons, stall, and a shot of spray and have a quick little car to surprise some people.

the biggest issue i had with my 98 was a bad intake gasket. other than that she has been an amazing car for over 8 years. any reason your lookin for a 01-02? if your wantin a dailing driver, all the 98-02 have very few small changes over the years.

I've had little to no trouble with my 98 camaro 3.8, and I've had it since February. I bought the car with 119k miles, so it was a bargain for the price that I got it ($2600). Mechanically, I've been on countless v6 f-body forums, and I haven't seen anything that generally caught my attention. The 3.8 is an incredibly strong engine, and when beating the crap out of mine, I have never had any problems. The only sensible modifications I'm considering are a nitrous shot, cat-backs, and an intake swap. But as far as downsides, make sure that if you can, find a car with - I think it's the Y87 package - just because it came with a posi rear end.

yea y87 will have the posi rear end, a quicker ratio steering box (the one that comes ont he ls1's) and dual exhuast. a very good package to get from factory.
