I keep seeing that the stall converter is a great upgrade for an A4....how does this work?...might be a newbie question but pretty interested.

what do ya spose a trani shop would charge to do one? i bet you'd be looking close to $300 since theyd pry have to pull the engine to get at the tranny right? (of course most transmission work would require that :P)

You dont have to pull the engine to drop the tranny. A shop would probably charge around 250-500 depending on their hourly rate and how experienced they are in dropping a 4l60e.

If you can find an ls1 specific shop it shouldnt take them too long. They do that kind of thing on a regular basis.

they wouldn't have to drop the tranny for that? nice, i thought for sure they would. i doubt there are any LS1 tune shops out here in good old nebraska though, but there are a couple decent tune shops in omaha, so thanks!

Nah he said you don't have to pull the engine to get to the trans.

Everything for the transmission is fully accessible from underneath the car.

you also need a transmission cooler, and preferrably a tune with the stall. a shift kit is nice also but could be argued that it isn't needed- that is up to you.

don't go below 3500, you'll be kicking yourself down the road.

Hey man check out Fuddleracing.com They are good people over there, since you dont know much about stall converters you can tell them what you use your car for (track or daily) what mods you have and what you expect and they will build you a custom converter to your specs and they are not expensive at all. He will also explain to you what supporting mods you need. Like me for instince, I am running fully bolt ons right now and a 150 shot and he recommended a 3280 stall with 2.2 STR (high STR since I have a 12 bolt and DR's) and it has been just great for me and dropped my times by about .3-.5 depending on my traction.
