    1989 K1500 Help

My daughter used my truck a couple of weeks ago to take stuff to a yard sale. After listening to the radio all day she completely killed the battery. She got some help hooking up jumper cables but the truck would only spin over. I had it towed home and have done the following.
Verified there is no fire to the plugs or from the distributor. I checked the coil and was pretty sure it was OK but replaced it anyway. After that didn’t solve the problem I pulled the ignition module and had it check. The indicated it was bad so I installed a new one, which didn’t help. I checked the voltage on various point around the coil and distributor, all were fine per my Haynes manual. I pulled the new ignition module and took it to be tested thinking maybe I got a bad one or have a problem that cooks them instantly, it still checks fine. I guess my next move is to replace the ECM. Anyone have any suggestion on anything else I should check prior to buying a new ECM?
    This is a 1989 K1500 with a 5.7 and 130,000 on the clock.

Thanks for any help you can provide

she must have put the key in the "run" position that sucks. It sounds like your doing the same I would. Make sure to check all the fuses including the fusable links.

try tapping the computer with something and see if it starts after that. that may indicate that the computer is bad. just a suggestion.

Thanks for the responses. I wouldn't think hooking cables up with the key on would hurt the pick up coil but don't get the correct resistance when checking it so I'll pull the distributor and replace that this weekend.
