WS-6/Ram Air Owners --Need info ASAP...

Can any of you tell me what the code is for a factory ram-air convertible...? Is it simply WS-6? This is for a '97....

Pretty sure the RPO for WS6 is WS6.

The convertible part would have it's own RPO.
    At least one would think.

My uncle found a ram-air firebird convertible in upstate New York, and I wanted to have him check to make sure it was not just a factory or aftermarket hood installation.

By the way, the car is a '97 LT-1, not an LS-1, but I assume the codes are the same, and I believe (for those of you also knowledgable on LT-1s) that the code sticker is on the door jam in '97, correct...??

Thanks, BTW, to everyone for the info...

The convertable body does not have an RPO code, the body style is coded in the 6th digit of the VIN. Coupes (both T-top and HTs) have a "2", while 'verts have a "3".

According to the sales catalog, the Ram-air option for the convertible is separate and distinct from the WS-6 suspension and ram-air option for the coupe. Any Ram-Air convertible owners willing to check their door stickers...???

True, the '97 WS6 'verts are somewhat unique, in that the "content" of the WS6 RPO was different for the 'verts than for the coupes. While the coupes recieved both the HP upgrades (exhaust / hood / CAI plumbing) AND suspension upgrades (17" rims / tires / stiffer suspension tuning), the WS6 'verts received ONLY the HP upgrades (WS6 'verts had the same suspension / 16" rims/tires as the non-WS6 'vert counterparts). However, I'm 99% sure that the RPO was WS6 either way. It's also possible that there was a mid-year production change in how Pontiac packaged the "Ram Air" for the 'verts, as I've heard that some of the '97 'verts came w/ WS6 badges and others had not (can't say about the RPO codes on the doors though). Since the sales brochure was probably printed before production began, I'd suspect it reflects the earlier packaging scheme (WS6 coupes have "Ram Air" + WS6 suspension, while 'verts only have "Ram Air" available and the WS6 suspension is N/A for 'verts). This kinda makes sense, since prior to '96, the WS6 RPO was purely a suspension upgrade of some sort and didn't include any HP enhancements. If there was indeed a change in packaging scheme, I suppose it's possible that the early '97 Ram Air 'verts did not contain a WS6 RPO code on the decal, which leads one to assume there was another RPO code for the "Ram Air" seperately.
