I was wondering if anyone was going to say something about that.

On another note, i haven't seen a regular dd mustang that could hang with an ls1. At least not many by me.

i dont think so. unless he has a pretty healthy cam in it and those GT40 heads are well worked he isnt making a whole lot of power. the GT40 heads were the ones that came on the 93 and 95 cobras, still less than a 300hp car.

price to mod does not equal potential. potential of a platform, as defined, MUST exclude discussion of cost, because otherwise you are talking logistics and application, not potential. the ls1 isnt outrageously expensive to mod either for that matter. also, i havent seen many NA 302 foxes in the 10s, i have seen 346 ls1's there though

to the OP, as a previous mustang owner and mustang forum addict a couple of the things you posted sound a little off. the "imported intake" sounds like he bought some BS from ebay or some knock off brand top end kit (i pray to all that is holy he is talking about the upper and lower intake manifold and not just a CAI). if he didnt run something with some R&D and a good name he probably pissed his money away. If he just swapped stock GT40 heads onto his car he also pissed money away. he would have been much better off going witha good edelbrock set or something like that, or a nicely ported GT set. does this kid even have full boltons? unless you neglected to list several mods (which would include boltons and a cam (probably windsor cam or a 303) that guy is running somewhere comfortably up in the 14s.

There is really only one Mustang that can hang, and beat, stock for stock. its the terminators 03-04 cobras. Well I guess the new GT500 but for the price they are in the vette range and we all now how that race would turn out. I guess the age old Ford Vs. GM comes down to Mod V8's Vs. LSX.

I really want to see a compro between the ZR-1 and the Ford GT.

when i asked him what he had in his car... he said only a imported intake manifold and gt-40 heads. and he said thats all he has to his 5.0 mustang. he didnt say where his manifold was imported from.
