Silver- At least its paid for.
305 TBI will not give you a run at all. A 305 TPI will be a little better race.

the GT will smoke'em good.
the 305 in 1991 has 2 different ratings, 205hp--285TQ and 230HP--300TQ. Plus you have to consider that the 1991 will most likely have high mileage and be worn out a little. So, Yes, you will smoke him.

That 305 might be rated at 205 hp and 285 tq but the 4.6 that made its way into the 1996-1998 mustang gts aren't rated for much more. I am not sure of the weight on the 91 TA but the sn95 mustangs are pretty heavy and the ford aod trany was not known for its performance. I think that it should be a pretty close race but thats just my opinion

This could be a tight race.
A 91 T/A 305 auto could muster a 14.8 in its day. I think in a 1/4 mile the GT would catch the 305, but in a 1/8th mile I would give it to the T/A. The reason is auto T/A usually come with a 3.23 rear and the 700r4 has a 3.04 first = 9.82 ratio While the mustang probably has a 2.73 rear and the 4R100 has a 2.71 first = 7.40 ratio.

^yes,true.......but consider how worn out most 91 models would be by now. High mileage will kill a 305's performance. I've driven a few, and they were dogs.....

The GT will win. My friend has a 90 firebird with a 305 slightly modded, and my other friend has a 1996 mustang GT with flowmasters and the mustang beat the firebird by about 3 cars in a 1/4 mile.
