    Bad Vibration

Looking for help/suggestions, 97 trans am AT trans, had a bad vibration around 70-85 mph, then would clear up, felt and sounded like the drive shaft, I removed the drive shaft, had it balanced, and installed new u-joints, now it's worse, the vibration still kicks in around 70 mph but does not go away, it's gets worse as you increase speed. Help ????

If it got worse after you had the drive shaft balanced I would have to say it was done wrong/badly have it checked again and make sure every thing is installed right and tourqed to spec. Make sure your tires are balanced and in good condition. I dont really see what eles it could be, if it was a tranny mount or engine mount then you would feel it jerk upon acceleration.

Thanks, I pulled the shaft off last night, i think i have a bearing gone in the rear end somewhere, as i can feel/hear a slight ratcheting noise when i moved the rear yoke by hand back and forth.

hey man, i work for a big tire company up here in washington and we have people coming in all the time wanting their tires balanced because they have a vibration at a certain speed. sometimes its actually just out of balance and other times the tire could be separated. im not saying that this is what it is but check for an outward bulge on the tires. u will need new tires if this is what it is but it's just a thought on something to check if it keeps up.

Thanks, I just put new tires on, I had them balanced twice, because I thought that might be the problem, but no such luck.
