    m3...not so great

so me and a friend of mine were going down 153 on the bridge when i hear this growling engine coming up behind me fast. it got closer and i saw it was a late 90's m3. he slowed down next to me and reved. i revved back and started to slow down. we got down to 30mph and then he honked it down. right from the start i had a pull on him he caught up to my rear bumper then when my car hit 3rd i pulled 2-3 car lengths on him and kept it. when i hit 140 i let off and coasted down. while i was coasting back down the m3 flies by me and slams on his brakes to get off at the lake resort exit with no time at all. i watched him slide to a stop on the exit and then take off down the rest of the way like nothing happened. i was really happy with myself about beating an m3, the guy in the car with me transformed into a american muscle fan, and i couldn't stop laughing at the m3 sliding like that. ll.

just a magnaflow straight through muffler, k&n kit, elbow, stage 2 trany build, 2200 stall. not enough to go up against an ls1 but it's enough to have some fun with. i can't launch it at over about 1400-1500 because of my tires being total crap but other than that it's pretty nice.

All e36 M3's (American Version) have 240HP. There really not that fast at all,
with a good driver you'll hit low 14's but that's about it. Handling, braking & feedback, they are superior to most cars.

The American buyers got cheated out of the real M3 Motor (321HP & 7600RPM redline) Bone stock it ran in the neighborhood of 13.6@104MPH and that
was from a 3.2L N/A six cylinder motor 12 years ago. No camaro owner should have any trouble with an the American version M3 in straight line performance.

My buddy got a 1996 m3 when he turned 16. It was a great car. He beat a 2005 SRT-4 stage one pretty easy in a 1/4 drag.

yeah i really like m3's. i like the body style and handling. the one i raced obviously was not stock though. it was way too loud to be stock.

Was he modded? the 1996 model came standard with the 3.2L motor, 95 model had the 3.0L both 240HP but the 3.2L is faster. US spec M3's are heavily restricted from the factory (e36 not e46). Ran a 2004 mustang gt once, both stock, dead even. Had I purchased the 2500 hundred dollar conversion kit, it would have been over quick.

The 96 m3 was bone stock manual coupe and it was a stage 1 SRT. He killed him on the take off and was beating him all the way through the 1/4 mile.
