i love cobras and respect them greatly but again for the price difference im goin ls1. Pick up an ls1 for 10k or even less, forge the internals and put on a procharger. Do the work yourself your still under 20k and with a new rear end your probably at 20k. Youll be whoopin a good amount of cobras. But thats just my way of looking at it. I do see the other views but just thought i'd throw my input in.
Bottom line here is money, cobras are expensive, our cars... not so much anymore. They can be bought cheap and modded even cheaper. 25k for a stock cobra or 25k into an ls1, so many possibilities.

Hm guess your right. I havent looked into Cobras ever since i picked up my T/A. I just remember 22-25k kinda bein the average price for one back when i had my mustang. Either way, if you can spend that kind of money you are gonna pick up/make one fast car whether it be a cobra or an ls1. Im just biased haha.

Not to start a Holy War but the Ford Modular motor has far more potential than the LS1 motor. Look at how fast the fastest Modulars are and then look at the LS1 cars.
The stock blocks can take HUGE horsepower numbers. Also if you are going to slap the blower on the LS1 lets up that compression on the Cobra a bit so that we are not lagging with the 8.5:1. That should be quite a bit more power if you put it at LS1 compression.
Given equal displacement the OHC motor will make more power than a PR.

Personally I like N/A

Not trying to start a huge arguement here...but can you prove that??
Where is the formula that says for X amount of displacement, an OHC motor will make more power than a pushrod engine?? Look at the Z06 and the ZR-1 for example...you honestly believe that they would make more power just from going OHV to DOHC?? I think all that would do is move the powerband upwards, not necessarily make more peak power. Plus you have th drag of 3 more cams and timing chains, and the engine will without a doubt be bigger and heavier. I don't think it would serve any benefit.

Moving the power band higher absolutely will make more power, because HP = torque * rpm. That is exactly how you get a 4V motor with only 4.6 cid to make almost as much power as a 2V motor with 5.7L (look at their peak torque rpm). It won't necessarily make a car faster (too many other variables).
However, I would not say they the Ford Modular has more HP potential. There are absolutely some incredibly fast Modular race cars out there (well into the 6's now), but in the world of cost-is-no-issue race cars, I wouldn't bet against the extra cid of the LSx in make raw power.
Certainly there is no real comparison when comparing N/A to N/A.

"They rolled off the factory floor" instantly makes your comment irrelevant. Majority of cars now days "R Not Stock!." Have 7 close buds that own forged bottem end LSx's, with the highest powered car an '02 SS Vortech YSi-powered 418 pushing over 1000-rear-wheel, so don't come with that factory bull****. Respect your own kind, and most of all speak only the facts.
