That gain on the topend has more to do with horrible gearing more than anything else. Typically, in a normally geared vehicle, cars will trap about 78-79% of their 1/4 mi trap speed in the 1/8th. so a 110mph 1/4trap would be about 87mph in the 1/8th. Automatics are usually in the 80-81% range.

For real world numbers you would want to use either a Mustang dyno or a Dyno Dynamics. Load applying dynos will simulate resistance due to air and gravity.

Dynojet dynos are inertia dynos. You will always get higher numbers from a Dynojet. Most dynojets produce numbers approximately 15-17% higher than Dyno Dynamics dynometers.

In other words, if I had dyno'd my 540I on a Dynojet, it would have put down approximately 305.9 - 311.2 RWHP.

If you want bragging numbers, dyno on a Dynojet. If you want real world numbers dyno on a Mustang or a Dyno Dynamics. Either way, a dyno is only a useful tool for baseline numbers and tuning.

Thats because you are thinking in terms of Dynojet numbers.

    See post above.

IF that same GTO had dyno'd on a Dynojet, he would have put down approximately 311.6 - 317 RWHP.
    Feel better now?

I understand, its hard to fathom a 29 percent loss on a Dyno Dynamics for an m6 ls1, so what percent of loss would a a4 see?

Don't know, but when I see an A4 strapped down to a Dyno Dynamics i'll let you know.
