67 camaro vs 00 camaro, both n/a, both auto, both 3.73, both stall,

what else can i say sounds like fun right, my buddy called my up saying he has a raced lined up. we go out the the area to met the guy in the 67, it was dark and when i pulled behind him i see a rear end girdle and some FAT mt slicks

i just may be in trouble i thought. when we lined up it was me and my buddy(170lbs) vs him with no hood, on 3 we both launch at the exact same time, dead even in first, he pulled a fender in 2nd and when we hit 3rd he was 1 car ahead....Damn that car runs good i told myself

we pull over to talk and he says that was the best race he has had. I told him i wanted one more run just to see what having no pass. will do so........

we ling up again and on 3 leave at the same time also, i pulled 1/2 on the launch and through 2nd, and when we hit third he was 1 car behind, not catching up but also not falling back

YES YES YES, i got it back, it is so good to see cars around here that run with mine, just got done racing a 01 cobra and beat him by 5 cars...not much of an adrenaline rush there.

back to my story we pull over again and decide on a tie breaker..BUT NOT YET. he said he spun a little the 2nd race so i want to go to the track next spring to duke it out. i do not want to win if he spins on the tie breaker.

my guess will be that we will be side by side all the way down the track and it will come down to a .05 or reaction time.

Oh and after the races i asked him whats under the hood exactly, he said look for yourself and tell me.

he actually bought the car not running and ended up finding that the dist. was off 3 teeth. so he acually doen't know much about the motor, it is a small block but 327? 350? stroker? bored? cam? runs good...yes

i did notice right at the end it seemed like i was getting ready to pull away(110+) but i like to race 1/4 mile, not 1/2mile.

the next day he asked the guy who rode with me "what kind of tires i had"

245 nittos he replied, i guess he was surprised how my stock "appearing" camaro and wheels took on his 67 with no hood and MT slicks in back. 26x10-15? thats what they looked like.

no he is not playing dumb, he bought the car from a guy who bought the car to just sell it and make a profit and doesn't know anything about mechanics, thats why the car didn't run when he bought it.
