    He does have a point though, they dont respond quite as well to mods as the ls1, not to mention they dont really start pulling hard until high rpms and the are so expensive to mod, cams are over 1000 just for the cams, and heads are gonna cost you the same as a built motor. All in all they are awesome motors but a waste of money if you dont go forced induction

    They can make good numbers but it will also cost you over 5 grand for everything

    Now let's not put the ZR1 into this discussion. The ZR1 is a cammer that boasts 350 cubic-inches...not 281. That, my friend, is the difference. There's much more potential in the LT5 than in the Ford 281. Lingenfelter "415/610" Kit LT5's put down over 500rwhp out of the box, and with further modification that kit has been proven to push over 600 rear-wheel naturally aspirated in street trim. Plus, I don't think the dual-overhead cam layout was the main focus of the discussion, instead we were referring to measily displacement mixed with natural aspiration.
