Surprisingly enough I don't think Tim didn't spent an insane amount of money on that car. I believe he did most of the work himself.

My coworker and his buddy build up fiero's with sc 3800's. Google some fiero forums to try to find some info. They buy through intense and zzperformance.com Right now they have a ticked out fiero with a built up auto trans and he sheared the one of the shafts from the torque converter. This guy keeps breaking parts before he can get it on the dyno. I dont know what trannies are in the v6 fbodies but if you build a big v6 the tranny might need some work too.

what does a stock 3800 series II run as far as a 1/4 mile in a Fbody? The car I'm looking at is for my wifes DD, just curious, it's a 97 firebird, loaded, 78K miles, auto, 3.42 gears. And do the have the 4L60-E tranny, or something else?

hmm, so with a set of 4.10s, Stall conv, CAI, headers, and a 75-100 shot it ought to run preety good, probably mid-low 13s. Thanks, I bought the car for 3500, it blue booked for 6K-6500, not bad huh.

    well yeah...

    i mean i've owned two ls1s and two 3.8s

I mean i love ls1's but i know the 3.8 insde and out, and they are good starter motors.

I'm just taking up for the v6 guys.

i was one once, and it pissed me off when eveytime i asked an honest question i heard "get an ls1"

i know GM still uses the format like crazy man.

my 3.8 runs 14.2's on motor...intake, tune, cutout, headers, icat, 3.42's, some suspension, and sticky tires.

has a 100 wet shot now..so ill be looking for the 13's this season.

however ive got an SS to play with too

could a tune really make that much of a difference? I have intake headers high flow cat magnaflow and i believe 3.42's yet have a quickest of 15.34

getting it to hook is a big part of it.

i run some 275 ET streets. ive also got relos, LCA's, solid panhard, exedy clutch, and an aluminum DS. theres more to the performance too, MSD 8.5's and some other stuff i didnt list. however, there are no internal engine mods at all.

i used to run some 275 street tires and it would spin into second. killed my 60' times.

    2001 M6 SS - few mods...

Good for low 15s if Y87, mid of it's just the 342s with no LSD

Any internal combustion engine will respond to extra air...so that was the first place I went......got this for $300.....

I don't remember where we got it....kid Googled a bunch and bought this exact exhaust from somewhere ...I dunno....bolted right on no problems.....2ndly we got some air in....He bought a KN CAI for like $225.....No chips or hand held programmers...I flushed the engine with Amsoil Engine Flush and changed all the fluids....rear end was like molasses...I suspect it was the original fluid.....popped the pancake and used brake cleaner to clean the gears.....Trannie fluid and filter....and of course engine oil and filter....all amsoil front to back.....We went ahead and flushed and filled the coolant also......We came in under $900 bucks and kid just is having a blast....really woke that V6 up...car runs like silk and he kills ricers in town now.....so it can be done pretty cheap and you can have a nice little V6 that actually runs strong.....

I was planning on helping a bud out with his maro.. thanks for the help!
