    TB SS vs AUDI S4

So this has nothing to do with my camaro, but last night I ran an S4 from a dig in my AWD TBSS and pulled away. It was dead even untill he pulled 2nd gear and then I gained about a half car length on him. Keep in mind this was in the pouring rain. The race lasted for all of 5 seconds up to about 50-60mph when I had to turn off, but I take that is a victory!

Made me think of something.....it was dry however, but the same thing, putting too much faith in AWD and thinking you're invincible.

I was at a T intersection driving to work, and I got sick of waiting. I saw a slight gap that I could get out onto the road that I wanted to be on. Stupid me, I get this great idea that I'm going to launch onto the road. Rev it up to about 5500 and let errr rip. When I turned the steering wheel, the ass end kicked out, and then I panicked with oversteering. Car ended up with the nose in the oncoming lane and my ass end sliding still. I almost wrecked into an oncoming grand am, and I felt like a complete fucking asshole.

VERY humbling. I actually pulled off the road and waved that the other driver to try to see if they were ok and everything, but they just sped away.

Wow....scary! I tend to have a lot of confidence in my AWD system, it has never failed me...even in a Michigan winter. But you are right, anything can happen. Hell, the audi could have slid into me even though it was a quattro. One of those things you dont think about in the heat of the moment... Thanks for the story 4tun8, I will keep everyone elses life lessons in mind to hopefully keep me from doing stupid things.

AWD helps you take off faster but it wont help at all trying to slow or stop in the wet or slippery stuff any better than 2wd. I see more 4x4's in ditches because of that in the winter.

Well that's because 4x4 drivers get "owntheroadinitis". It's a common disease come winter time. Trust me, I used to have it myself....oooh so many ditches! lol

Reminds me of alot of times in my life. We were on the freeway comign back fro ma party all drunk crossing a bridge that is suspended 100 feet above the ground, when the tire popped and we were spinning it was ice rain. When the car stopped we were in the middle of the bridge and had hit nothing. It was amazing.

Well the Avalanche is still rwd unless you hit the button.

Why is everyone busting my balls? Everyone seems so high and mighty...
