    What are the odds

    of your car blowing up on the dyno ? I want to get mine dyno tuned now that i've got headers, but I don't want the car to blow up ! lol .

    No greater risk than running the car to 120-130 mph briefly, since that is what is done on the dyno...

    I twisted my driveshaft off on the dyno last year with my truck, but I had a weak u joint come to find out later, but I have not of a motor blowing up on one though.

    It happens.. but it's better to take that risk than not tune it at all. I have seen plenty of popped engines on dyno videos before (but that is out of hundreds/thousands of times they do it). I even saw a car in Jacksonville improperly secured and fell OFF the dyno while doing it's run - caught traction and POW! More than likey it is NOT GOING TO HURT YOUR CAR, though.

    look at the bright side. would you rather something break on the dyno at say 100 MPH or on the highway. If something were to break then you could consider yourself lucky cause it was gonna go on the ride home. All in all though, it usually doesn't happen. Not with stockish cars. Now if you were to throw parts in it ie H/C and didn't get your clearances straight or forgot to tighten a bolt then BAM!!!
