2002 Trans AM
Silver

Ok new delema.....my 4th 4L60E took a Dump.

Ok It all started with the 1st 4L60E that went out on me @ 3,500 miles. I bring it to the dealers and they fix it under warrenty.

2nd 4L60E went out @ 6,200 miles. I bring it to the dealers and they fix it under warrety while giving me problems about my bald tires and SLP LoudMouth.

3rd 4L60E went out @ 15,000 miles. I bring to the dealer and they said Go and Fuck your self....how nice of them.....I file a BBB complains stating its a lemmon and all I want is to get my Trans fixed right. The dealership eventually found out that I am a regular at E-town and I go there at least once a week. My excuse was that I see that car magazines advetice that my car does 13.5 at the 1/4 mile so that why I go the track....long story shot they voided my Drivetrain, and all other warrenties they left alone.

So I go to a TCI web site and get the list of all the Parts that they use for their Stage 4 4L60E's. I bring it to my Bosses bother who owns a Transmition shop and he builds me that 4L60E for $2,000 Not bad of a price.

Since then I added a Stall, Gears, H/C and N2O. Dynoed at 393HP and 363TQ with H/C and 467HP and 626TQ on N2O. I been Running 12.1 @113MPH N/A and 11.1 @ 120MPH on Juice. With 1.47 60 FT.

That 4L60E that lasted me 30,000 miles of hard abuse finally gave up.

I wanted to do a T56 Swap, but I know not all clutches can hold that my power and I will defenetly will never see my respectible 11.1 1/4 time and defenetly wont see my 1.47 60FT.

I am aiming towards TH350 or TH400, but I don't know much about them. What are the Pros and Cons about them and how much is there a difference from and heavy duty 4L60E.

I want the same guy to built my 4L60E to do the swap, but he said if there is too much fabrication and wirering he will refuse.

Please help.

Thank you for taking your time to read.

I have a friend right here by me who could do that swap for you. Call me up sometime and I'll ask him how much he'd do it for.

He goes by 1984CamaroZ28 on some of the boards. He does good work though, he's built a BBC thirdgen and has a few other projects going on. He rebuilt my rear and I'm going to see if he'll do the heads/cam I'm saving up for.

I'll ask him how much is involved in a TH400 swap and how much he'd do it for, since he has one in his thirdgen. A T56 swap would be easy as hell, but if you don't like 6 speeds then don't feel coerced into getting one. Thacker SS just posted a video where he has 1.67 60 ft time in a 6 speed with 373rwhp, so launching a manual isn't impossible. You'll pick up a few hp on the dyno too.

Didn't know that you were bracket racing, the obvious strength of an automatic transmission. What's up with the tears on the .001 RT? LOL

the clutches are burned. especially the 2nd and 3rd. they are extremly weak.

The Dealers gave me problems from Day one. 20 year old with aftermaker catback and bald tires on a 3500 mile car.

Eventualy they found out that I was a regular at the track and they voided it for abuse.
