Going to look great when the final product is done, I like seeing rare projects, other V6 guys will love to see this completed.

Nice project man!!!!! Awesome to see something new on the table with big goals, Im not too familiar with the v6 engines but is this the same engine as the Grand nationals are running?

There is a grand national that runs at the track near me.OMG 3.8 1/8 @ 178MPH, Man has balls, Its a world record holding car v6 turbo charged, I think he has our track record from BBC to Sbc to top alcohal dragster, Car is a beast. But if its the same engine your running then good luck man its going to be insane!!!!!

No, that is a 90 degree motor, mine is 60. All else equal, a 60* V6 is going to be more powerful than a 90*, just that the 90* has more aftermarket support. A 90* just doesn't have the harmonics on it's side like the 660 does...

    http://www.e31.net/engines_e.html

GM is making 60*V6's (660's) that are pushing over 300hp N/A in stock form (3.6VVT) The 3500 that I got these head off are in the neighborhood of 220hp, and a memeber on another board just hit 315bhp (crank) with a 3500 after porting/polishing, long tubes, and cam

Yep, got a Kitamura MyCenter 2, and a MoriSeiki lathe (and a few other old-arse CNC/manual stuff)

Thanks for the compliments on the car, though

I am going to be doing a 3.4 (94) rebuild soon for my brother in law. Can someone write up a list of the parts used and from what motor they were used. For example, which pushrods and pistons. Its going to be a total rebuild with either nitrous or turbo when done. I was reading through this thread and am a little confused what was used and I think it would be beneficial for others to have a list in one place of what was used.

The heads are from a 2004 Malibu

    pushrods from a 95 3100 Gen2

That's about it besides the few details to make it work depending on what year car they are going into, type of tranny, ECM etc.

I can give you a really good deal on the heads being checked, rebuilt, cleaned and all of the peripherals to go with it. PM me if you are interested, I have a machine shop.

Did you use the 04 rockers or upgrade to something else? Do you also have to use the 3400 pistons to get the compression ratio down? Just curious. Thank You

On my car, the compression is going to be high until the turbo goes back on. Then I will change to 3400 pistons and re-port the heads for boost.

Yes, the rockers I ended up using is the 1.6 roller fulcrum rockers that came stock with the 04 heads.

The TB is a 75mm unit from a Cady Northstar, and throttle cable is from a Vortech pickup. Don't know how I'm going to deal with the tranny cable yet, but some of you 4th gen fbodies don't have to worry about that (or manual trans)

I have a machine shop and buy engines in bulk. If anybody is interested in 3x00 heads that are modified to work with RWD pistons, PM me. They are remanufactuerd we have options such as SS valves LSx or Comp springs, porting/polishing etc.

Thats what I needed to know, thanks. I will also keep in mind about the reworked heads in the future.

Polishing the chambers, along with getting rid of sharp edges and casting marks. Kept the removal of material to keep the compression up for the N/A runs...

    GOT BOOST?

The first turbo that would eat SBC V8's (pre LSx)...

    Page 1

    Page 2
And the new motor is a 3.4l from a 1995 Camaro with heads from a 2004 3.5l Malibu with pushrods and guides from a '95 3100 (modified), soon to have 1.7 roller tip rockers (came with 1.6 roller fulcrum's from the factory), LS6 beehive valve springs, and possably a 75mm single bore Cadillac N* TB (maybe a custom 65mm depending on VE)...

    Page 1

    Page2

    Page 3

I'm expecting 250+hp from it N/A with 11:1 compression, and over 500hp once the boost is back on (then it will have 3400 pistons for 8.9:1CR).

With Ford 1.7 ratio rockers, it will be near .500 lift with a mild 260 cam in it. If I decide to go with a 270, it will be near .550. It will be capable of rotating in excess of 7000RPM, and will be using DIS4 and MegaSquirt for tuning.

The 3500 is capable of over 300fwhp, proven on a dyno by members of another board. With 100cc's less, I believe my goals are attainable.

This engine is being built from all GM stock parts with the exception of the Ford rockers. I'm only using the Ford rockers because they were $59/set of 16 for 4340 forged CNC'd "stamped style" rockers. The fulcrum to valve distance was increased by GM on the latter 60*V6 engines because of the canted valves.

Here are some comparison pics between the 2.8/3.1/3.4 iron heads, 3400 aluminum heads (post 2000), and the 3500 heads introduced in 2004...

Worked on my engine finally for a little bit today instead of everyone else's, lol. Got another 3500 comming in tomorrow, and will be dissasembling/cleaning all day.

    Got the cam bearings out...

    And honed the cylinders...

Now I got to order the rings (hopefully tonight after the kids are in bed), and maybe this week the crank, cam bearings and oil pump will go in.

Not much aftermarket support for one, and a FWD block won't fit in my car without a tubular k-member.

Right now the strongest 3500 has put 271hp and 291ft/lbs to the wheels N/A and stock bottom end.
