    Round 2 SC S2000 vs. 99 SS

Today was round two. Last time he called it dead even I called a kill because I nosed him out two of the three times. Last race I had a lid and catback he had a supercharger, full exhaust, lightened flywheel, VFAC (lowers vtech kick in) and 4.56 gears. I'm sure i'm forgetting more mods he's up over 40k in total on it.

This time he had a tune and a pulley giving him another 1lb of boost I added 410s. He is right around 310rwhp and 2500lbs. Pretty much same result this time except I'm getting no traction at all. Last time I hooked hard this time I spun until 2nd gear caught but each time I had about a foot on him. He's debating that he says "you're a dreamer" we were dead even I say wishful thinking! With DRs I think i'd have beat him by over half a car. He's pretty upset with himself because he blew his 3rd gear shift on the last one. Even if we call it dead even I think it's pretty damn good that I keep up with a car that has that kind of power to weight ratio considering my mods. His car should be well into the 12s. He's hooking up too he has rims and tires I believe 315s out back. He only spins a little from 1st to 2nd.

All that being said he has one nice S2000 it's very tastefully done and handles awesome.

You got to love the LS1 though I paid 13k for my vert and have added on about 1k in mods. Not bad 14k vs. 40k+.

good kill, the reason why you beat him is because of the awesome powerband of the LS1 vs his Vtec

A supercharger with a v-tec is kinda useless, you dont make max power with a supercharger until right before you shift and the same thing with v-tec, yeah he is making 300+rwhp but probably only for about 1500rpms. Useless setup for drag racing

Actually it's not as bad as you would think I've driven his car the power comes on pretty good. Once his car is going it stays in the powerband because he has lowered the rpm the vtec kicks in. This race is tailored for him too we take off at 20mph which in 1st gear with his gears is right at his vtec point. He told me he is in his powerband the entire race. I honestly thought this time he might get me especially with my traction issues thanks to my 410s. If I had drag radials and we went from a dig I think I'd put a car length or two on him and hold it.

These 410s are making a huge difference. I left hard on a C5 vert the other day and the old man was none too happy about it.

His car just isnt a drag car, get a cam swap and some drag radials you will win by bus loads.

I know that. He even admitted that if I do anything else he'll need to go turbo which is his plan eventually.

My next mod is headers and a y pipe. I haven't decided if i'm staying NA or going FI yet. I'll probably get every supporting mod before making that decision.

Why not do both, get cam swap done, port polish heads or buy new ones if you really want to shell out the 1500-2000grand for 20rwhp and then put a forced induction setup on there.

315's on a little S2000? That a huge tire for that size car. Hell I got 315's on mine and they look huge. Nice kill anyway.
