6.0 Vortec Swap
I've been doing some SEARCHING , but, i can not find info if the motor mount locations are the same for the 6.0 vortec and the LS1. Does anyone have any info or have done this swap? I have a 91 Formula but I can get the Kmember for the LS1 but I can get a 6.0 Vortec and 4l80e for less the the Ls1 alone. If anyone has info or a web site with this info i'd appreciate it.

I have an LQ9 block in mine.
Mounts are the same for that block.

Yup. I have an LQ4 block on ls1 motor mounts in the stock k-member no problems!

You'll have to drill and tap a hole for the LS1 alternator bracket and plug the dipstick hole in the block. Otherwise, smooth sailing.

really Mike? I havent heard anythign about the f-body alternator not fitting. The motor's not in the car yet, so I gotta check that out. Might just buy a 6.0 alternator bracket if it really doesnt fit.
edit:
just found THIS http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=665641
anyone know if you can run ls1 accessories on a 6.0 block with the 6.0 alternator?Last edited by TwiSSter418; 08-04-2007 at 05:14 AM.

The trucks use a different setup for mounting the alternator. There are only 2 useable holes on the LQ9. Tapping out that third hole gives you 3 our of 4, which is enough to hold the car style alternator securely. I don't think a truck alternator setup will work on a car. My guess is you'd have hood clearance issues and have to relocate the PS pump. The shop that built my 408 routinely taps that extra hole. They even made a jig for doing it. It's not as big a deal as it seems.

yah i'll probably just end up tapping the hole so i don't have to buy a new alternator etc.
anyway, there are good pics in that link I posted above jweast. i'll probably end up using that as a guide....
