royal purple gave 8 hp on tv show? how many switched?

one horsepower tv couple days ago they had a z28 and changed all the fluids (tranny, motor, gears) and then made a 8 HP increase. has anybody ever switched to this or still run MOBILE 1 5w30. i know this company started in the business jst for high HP cars and expensive cars.

if not motor has anybody reccommend there tranny oil or rear end oil

I don't like Royal Purple, I like Mobil 1 even less. In regards to this poll, where is the "other" option.

    VP racing oils in mine.

Mobil 1 for a little longer in the Grand Am since I still have 7 quarts sitting around. After that...not sure. Mobil 1 is grossly overpriced for what you get though. No longer a basestock IV...which means it isn't 100% synthetic.
Royal Purple is okay oil. Big problem is the price....too high.

I saw that episode too. I voted Mobil 1, because thats in it right now. I'm going to switch next oil change, after hearing about Mobil 1 switching to a base stock III. I was thinking of Royal Purple or Ams oil.

0-30 German Castrol FTW. RP and M1 are both unacceptable.

German Castrol, is that any different than Castrol at Wal-Mart/Auto part stores or do you have to get it a race shops.

    It does.
But I don't think it is really easy to see. Kinda have to check for it.
Never used it myself, so not 100% sure.

On the back the german stuff says it's imported from germany, the other stuff says manufactured in (somewhere in the US)

You will pick up HP on the dyno switching from synthetic to dino oil if all the fluids in your car are old and you change them all to clean new oils. It has nothing to do with just being a better oil.

Royal purple started out as a specilty lubricant company serving industry, such as refinerys. (ie: pumps, pump motors etc). Motrsports was just an extra buck to be made. They do make great products but 8 hp is hard to pull if you are already using synthetics.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that you use MOBILE 1 5-W. I've always used 10-W.

well.......ive heard some bad things on royal purples tranny fluid.....Ive heard it breaks down kinda easy........Not to mention it costs 8 bucks a quart!!!!!!!
Ive talked to several tranny "Top Dogs" and they all said it doesnt really make a difference which brand u put in ur tranny its pretty much the same, so which one u gonna pay for? the 3 dollar one or the 8 dollar one...?
I made the mistake of the 8 dollar one but returned it and got the cheaper one

I dont trust the synthetics on the clutch plates. I ran dragbikes for 20 years and synthetic oils would make the clutches slip. Maybe their better now, but for me engine and rear gear only.
