Do you know how to properly reset the light? You just hold in the trip button for like 10 secs until the light blinks then let off.

    From the manual:

How to Reset the Oil Change Light
The GM Oil Life System calculates when to
change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use.
Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it
can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a
situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a
OIL CHANGE light being turned on, reset the system.
After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.
    1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine
    turned off.
    2. Press the TRIP/OIL RESET button located on the
instrument panel for 12 seconds. The OIL CHANGE
light will start to flash to confirm that the system is
reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE
    light goes out.

This works....or if you're in a hurry or don't want to reset the trip:

1-Turn key to run (engine off).
2-Stomp on the gas pedal 3x and it should go away.

I use the pedal method and that seems to be easier, plus you don't have to erase your trip then too.

It works on my 04 Trailblazer, but not my car either. Does the pedal method only work with certain year models?

I reset mine so that I can know when my next oil change is due.
