The kit only works for the passenger side, although there have been enough people complain about their driver side that we are going to expirement with it also. There should be no problem with the stock wiring for the drivers side, your motor may be worn or you need to lube for window slides and regulator arms!

I was going to replace the motor on my driver side and came across a thread on how to repair or rework the old motor. When I pulled the brush end of the motor off and started cleaning things up before doing the modification; I noticed what appeared as grease down in the internal gearing. It was the consistency of an old, drying bottle of Elmer's glue and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was just as sticky. I cleaned it out and replaced the old grease, cleaned the commutator and inspected the brushes, soldered up the bi-metal contact strip and it works like it is good for another 100k miles.

I realize the passenger side is a voltage loss issue and has at least one other difference from the driver's side but seeing how there was a question regarding the driver's side I thought to add this in.

I'm just glad to pass the information along. I think it was WRD72 who first posted the fix. It saved me $60.

Just to make sure I'm clear, it's the soldering of the bi-metal strip that is the key to bring the life back to the motor. You lose the heat protection because that is what the bi-metal strip does but it is also the main reason the window shuts down prematurely. The dried lubricant and dirty or in need of adjustment tracks contribute to the slow movement and overload too.
