    502 ci viper engine

Does anyone know how much power the 502 viper engine can safely handle?

Yeah thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to find out how the svt cobra stands against the viper engine. I know the cobra block is good for 1000 hp but dont know anything about the 502 viper

Why not?! or are you thinking of stock internals? There is a difference. The LS1 blocks can get close to (if not over) 1000 too, but you'd have to upgrade a few parts here and there, like bearings, main caps, bolts, girdle, etc.

Funny; since it's been done. The 4v 03/04 engines are very stong. All forged goodies...stock. There are lot's of twin 57~67mm twin and single T76 cobras putting down over 800 tire on the stock engine (valve cover to oil pan stock).

    Food for thought.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with getting the correct information out.

Difference between the strength and capabilities of the LS1 and the Cobra 4.6 mainly comes down to the block material and internals. The Modular engine design is not necessarily better than the GM LS design, in fact they actually share many characteristics.

The difference is the Cobra 4.6 is a cast iron block, and its got fully forged internals from the factory. In other words pretty much bulletproof. As we all know LS1's are aluminum, and we have hyperutectic pistons and non-forged crank and rods. So an LS motor will easily match or exceed the strength of the Ford 4.6 if you have an iron block version with forged internals. Unfortunately, they were not available from the factory that way, and building one is by no means cheap.
