Not a stang hater, the 4.6 just doesn't have the torque the LS1 does. The Shelby was good lookin and fun to drive but I prefer a stick and really love that low end grunt.

No but it also just doesn't have the cubes either, and the power curves are different, as in the 5.0.

didnt Carroll Shelby say something along the lines of "Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races"?

they could've done better with the gt500, with a name like that it should be walking atleast base vettes all day long. What's the point of buying a 500hp slow car? sounds nice but I wouldn't want it

looks...most people will buy a great looking mustang..not to mention like said before..hp sells cars it wouldnt matter if it was a tank and did a 1/4 in 15 secs if it had 500hp in the adds and a dealer point people will assume its fast then get burnt by vettes

Man, I was considering buying an LS1, but it seems everyone with an LS1 thinks they are THE sh*t and gives no respect to other people/cars. If having an LS1 turns you into this, I'll keep my Mustang and just put the money into it to run 12's
Or you could buy a slp f-body and run 12's stock. You are right, the f-bodies are no longer in production. But yet the mustang still doesn't touch the out of production f-bodies in performance, handling, and overall appeal. I mean, come on, it is a stang.
    Some fact, some opinion.

thats alot of jerkin buddy. I dont concider the new shelby a "true" shelby. from 65-67 is when they were true..with the exception of the KR. from 68-70 is were Ford had major control and little carrol shelby input. same as the new shelby..its pretty much only his name..ford designers and corperate penny pinchers took that shit over...now if the gt.500 was made like the Cobra R..that shit would be great. a true "race" derived car. no ac or radio..just a light ass car that had one goal..go fast and handle great. shelby was a legendary race car driver and car "designer"..now the new gt500 is a 500 hp crusier...ford had only one thing in mind with the gt500..make money and talor it towards creature comforts. but thats just my view..not fact.

ok jeez mustangs are going to get flamed on an ls1 site. chevys will get flamed on a ford or a mopar site. My 88 shelby csx-t is a real shelby #542. Those new hertz cars are really nice looking but the auto cars are no fun. Not bad for 4.6's my, friends auto drop top ran a 14.1. But it feels way slower than most because of the torque factor.
