Question about stall converter
I have an automatic transmission in my WS6. All i have done to it performance wise is dynomax bullet mufflers and Edlbrock shorties. Now if i added a stall around 2500 rpm, what kind of performance gains do you think i would see? Would it be as fast as a Manual WS6? What kind of track times do you think it might run? I just wanna know if it is worth doing or not. Thanks a ton in advance.

A stall is one of the best and first mod you should do to an A4. But don't get anything less than a 3200. And whatever you decide, go one higher.

A stall will add more than nitrous.....ED is correct...3200 minimum will plant them M6 boys in the cabbage patch
Seriously consider a transgo shift kit and a BM trannie cooler.....

How about mileage on a daily driver?
If you get a 3200 stall doesn't that pretty much negate your 0-3100 rpms and make you run 3200+ RPM all the time? That would be a little harsh... Or am I wrong? |

I have heard someone talk about a "shift kit" but can someone explain the stall converter. What it does, where it goes on the tranny, how much are they?

What will a higher stall torque converter do for my car?
A higher stall torque converter will multiply the torque of your engine to put more power and torque to the tires! The high stall torque converter will slip the engine into a higher rpm range where there is more torque and horsepower. This will make your car haul ass! What kind of performance gains will I see with a high stall torque converter? Our customers typically see a .5 reduction in quarter mile times, traction permitting. Highly modified cars with ported heads and bigger cams have seen gains of over 1 second! What will happen to my fuel economy? Very little. If your vehicle originally came with a lock-up clutch, your Yank Performance Converter would also have a lock-up clutch. You may need to apply slightly more throttle for driving around town, but you should not see a noticeable drop in fuel economy. |
