Teal- 1995 Camaro (3.4L)
1995 Camaro vs. 2006 Eclipse 2.4L l4?
I'm mostly a Car Audio buff, but I've always drove hrm... "Slower" cars. I know my 1995 Camaro isn't a speed demon, but I know my specs, and I know the specs of the Eclipse, I think I have a fair chance, and from what I can tell it will depend on how well I do off the line (4WD vs. RWD). I bought it with custom duel exhaust, but without headers or advanced intake I'll rate mine at stock Horsepower Here are the specs:
1995 Camaro
3.4L V6
160 HP @ 4,600 rpm
200 ft-lbs, 271 NM @ 3,600 rpm
3342 lbs, curb weight
2006 Eclipse
2.4L l4
162 HP @ 6,000 rpm
162 ft-lbs, 220 NM @ 4,000 rpm
3274 lbs, curb weight (giving curb weight because I couldn't find base weight.
Expected outcome?
I would love to hear everyone's opinion, especially Toneloc's. I would also like to know the best advice for take off's in my car and racing in general? I know that my car achieves maximum torque @ 3,600 rpms, and best Horsepower @ 4,600 so the most efficient off the line would be around 4,200 rpms, and then "dump the clutch" (new term I just learned from reading these forums.) Which I assume to mean release it completely? Thanks for tolerating the n00bness and answering the questions.

My chick has a 06 eclipse 2.4 auto and it is way better than the previous generations. If the eclipse is a 5spd I would say the eclipse, but if it's an auto I'd go with the firebird if, because it sounds like you have the manual. The only thing I raced with it so far was one of the ugly VW Golfs and I beat that with it.

I think you should win. And the new eclipse had FWD not 4WD. As long as you get a good launch your should win. The cars are pretty close in weight and you have a big advantage in tourqe.

He drives the 5 spd. But I rode with him and he doesn't seem very efficient at driving it, advice on starting RPMs, or anything?

If he can't drive you should kick his ass, but you don't sound to be very experiened either so who ever doesn't fry their clutch or bog out should win. Launch at 4k or so and you should be good to go depending on your tires and if you have limited slip.

Hey man, I owned a 3.4 and I hope you kick his ass, but you might not be making 160 hp on that 11 year old car, it depends on its condition. I think the eclipse might have a slight advantage but im pulling for ya dude!

I THOUGHT THOSE NEW ECLIPSES CAME WITH 260 HP
I could have sworn I read that in the book on the eclipse they gave out at the autoshow last year..

Sorry, I'm planning to buy some new tires before this race. Better traction, I think I'll win unless I peel out, which I have a feeling I will do without the new tires.

No, the race hasn't went down yet, I'm waiting to get some new tires and a tune-up. Hopefully next weekend.
PS. the car only has 67k miles, it was driven easily.
