throttle body spacer

anyone ever had one on their ls1?
i am looking at a car that has one and i would just like to know if they help at all with perfomance or mpg.

i dont think ive ever heard of a tb spacer for a LS1. just port and polish ur stock 1 or if u feel it necessary buy the 90mm one for $500

Knew a guy who had a helix power tower TB spacer. Could not tell a difference with either. Did give the car a whistling sound when the gas was pressed.

Wont do a single bit of good. The point of a spacer is to give the air and fuel more time to mix and atomize. LS1's are a dry intake(no fuel). Rather, fuel is added in the combustion chamber-therefor no 'extra time needed'. GIMMICK

Seemed to help a bit on my K2500 TBI, but I don't see it helping an LS1.

i ended up not getting the car that had one.
i found a stock 1999 trans am.
and i won't be putting a TB spacer on it.

The original concept of a spacer was to create a gap between the carb/TBI and the intake manifold, which would give the effect of a "high rise" intake manifold, without the expense of changing the manifold and having hood clearance issues.

With SEFI, throttle body spacers are effectively useless. I've heard people say they could notice a difference after installing one, but its probably minimal at best. The only thing it could possibly help with is intake air velocity, since its allowing for a longer distance between when the air passes through the throttle body and when the air is forced down the intake runners.

Perhaps someone has some dyno charts with and without the TB spacer, just to set the record straight
