In Europe they make alot more models of the Evo. FQ 300,FQ 345 FQ 400. That's not to bad for a 2.0L turbo 400hp from the factory with a 3 year waranty.

Yeah I know the GTO LS2 has got 400hp too. But it can't do 0 to 60mph in 3.5 sec or run a mid 12sec quarter mile stock.

Agreed. The FQ-400 version sold in Europe is hardly evden driveable, they tested one on Top Gear and it was outrun by a rental car from a roll in overdrive. It doesn't matter how much power the car has, if it isn't useable, than its pointless. It also had extremely bad turbo lag and a clutch so grabby that it was practically undriveable.

As the saying goes, theres no replacement for displacement.

Those crazy Brits did over-do it with that car. They upgraded the turbo to get 400 crank HP A full exhaust, cams and tune can give you that on the stock 16G (10.5). I dont know what clutch they had in there either but Im sure the $450 ACT street would have sufficed better.

Yea something ridiculous like that. Quite a rip if you ask me. You can duplicate that car with speed for $2000 in mods on a USMD $35k MR with stock drivability.

    Hey Wes,

How does your car do if you drop it in 6th at 25mph?

I'm guessing you're not stupid enough to do that nor is anyone who owns an FQ400. That was nothing more than an illustration.

It wasn't 25MPH, first of all. Not only that, but the econo rental car did the same thing. They put both cars in their highest gear at the same speed and floored it.

Their point was that there is severe turbo lag in the FQ-400, and when the turbo isn't spooled, the car is a complete dog. Of course thats expected of a 2.0L 4 banger with a low compression ratio. Still pathetic though.

They were going 30mph actually. However, that test was incredibly retarded. Who puts the car in 6th gear at 30mph? Seriously. In my 5 speed at 30mph Im at 1500rpm. I dont think anyone drives around nor cruises at 1000rpm in their car. Turbo lag is overrated. Dont believe the hype. Ive ridden in 2 EVOs with turbos that made that Garrett on the FQ a hairdryer and the lag was not half as bad as I expected.
