First Kill On my Trans AM BMW X5
I just bought my trans am:
1999 Black WS6 6 speed 75k miles
I was driving to work, around 5 pm, and this BMW X5 starts coming fast from my rear view mirror, and then it slows down on the passenger side right next to me, and there are two white guys in the front, and their two girls in the backseat, one ugly one on the passenger side and one pretty good looking one on the driver side. So I wink at the good looking girl and the guy rolls down the window and says lets go, I was in cruise control going 75, and we both punch it, he keeps up till 90 then Im gone, it was a V8 I think, I was suprised how far he kept up, maybe it was my shifts though, just got two days on my belt driving this sucker...
What specs are on those X5? I think I saw a 4.4IS or maybe it was a 4.8 is badge on it

Good kill.
If you downshifted you would have really shown them up infront of their girls.

I found the specs:
X5 4.4 315hp 324 tq
X5 4.8 355hp 369tq BMW site says 5.9 0-60 so they are pretty quick for what an SUV but it still weighs 4500 lbs
I too have had an encounter with an X5. I was driving home on I-55 the highway at night. I can see in my miror his ultra bright blue headlights coming up fast. Im going about 70 so i figure hes doing atleast 90+. As he is about to pass i downshift to 5th and he notices and we both keep going untill 120. He never got close. Imagine what would've happened had i gone to 3rd or 4th.

hehe - how far are we safe to downshift to 4th? Im scared of killing my tranny and all, i downshifted to 5th, slow shift though (haven't driven a stick for like 3months) thanks guys!

Most highway races I put it into 3rd. Especially around 70. Sweet spot. (sheesh, i sound like I do this all the time. I hardly ever street race, even when I do it's usually only playing around. Nothing serious.)
I had a highway encounter with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Thing kept up with me till 110. I didn't pull at all. Even after i downshifted to 3rd. I was REALLY surprised, until I did some research that said they made 520 HP.

I never got mine into 4th at 120. I know at 90 the torque in 4th is incredible. I have had new corvettes pass me by when they see all the torque there. SNAP SNAP 5th is all i need after 100.
