    How's this legal?

And the Stupid Train keeps rolling on....

    How's this legal?

Missouri Tigers head coach Barry Odom announced a strict team policy for his football players: No handgun ownership, even if the gun was “legally” purchased.

Please show me the law that prohibits what's he's doing. (Hint: there isn't one)

It's probably part of their player conduct policy (or whatever they call it). Plenty of things in such policies may not violate the law, but are sufficient to get you kicked off of the team. See NFL player conduct policy for reference.

Right or wrong, it's perfectly legit. If the players don't like it, quit

On a side note: yay, another politics thread in the gun section.

Sure, it's called the 2nd amendment. Businesses, schools, corporations etc do not have the ability to remove us citizen's rights unless you are on their private property. The moment you aren't on the clock and on their property they cannot restrict your rights.

You're wrong. They can do it, and they are doing it. Do a little more research. Playing football isn't a right.

No, but owning a firearm is. They simply cannot tell you, you can't own a firearm. They can say, you can't have them on campus but they cannot tell you cannot own a firearm. Once taken to the higher courts they will tell you the same thing IMO.

If you have some information regarding the legalities of this situation please share.

You're right, they can't tell their football players not to own firearms. They can tell their football players that if they want to own firearms they won't be playing football for that team. You're not drawing the distinction there.

this is the way I was taking it. They're not taking away the right to bear arms. They're taking away the right to play Missouri football if you do. It's also pretty much impossible to police and I'm sure they know that. They also specifically listed pistols and left out hunting firearms which is retarded because you can legally hunt with a pistol in Missouri. It's obviously his attempt to keep his gang member recruits alive long enough to play football.
