2010 1500 silverado 5.3 oil pressure problems!
So I have had my 2010 1500 silverado 5.3l for about a year now. It is currently sitting at or around 100k with me driving a little over 20k. I started having issues with my low oil pressure warning coming on and warning me to shut the engine down. Well after pulling over and checking engine oil level as well as listening to the engine itself I decided to do some research. There is a screen that goes inside the block before the sending unit. Which I pulled on Tuesday to check it out. It is located on the driver side behind the intake manifold. The tiny screen was so clogged up with debris and whatever else that it was not allowing the pressure to get through to the sending unit. I pulled the screen replaced the other ring and spray it down with carb cleaner and the air hose. Cleared all the codes. Oil pressure returned to normal, and I've not had a problem since. I will go in next week take pictures and post them up if anybody has any questions or concerns I will be happy to help. Apparently this is a common issue with the 5.3 in multiple vehicles. Btw you do not have to take the damn intake manifold off to pull the sending unit!!

What kind of "debris"? You need to be wary if you have a DOD (displacement on demand) 5.3. They eat cams. Might want to have your oil sent off to someone like blackstone labs to see how the motor is wearing.

It wasn't crazy debris just looked like normal wear and tear. Co sideline who knows the last time that fine screen had been replaced anyway. It looked more to be engine sludge to be honest. I have seen on some silverado forums where some guys has pulled those filters and they had chunks and filings of metal in them. But I do plan on sending off a sample to see what I get back, I am kind of interested to see what the results will show.

I also plan on having the DoD tuned out I have talked to several techs at the dealership and they have told me the early 5.3 had huge issues with the early set ups.
