Axle bearing
Doing my axle bearings and discovered the head on the little 5\16 bolt in the diff is rounded (someone has been in here). Suggestions? Is this bolt too tight for a pair of vice grips?
My garage ...

You should be ok with vice gripes, they are not as tight as you think.

I am going to remove the diagonal lateral support for more room and give the vice grips a try. If that doesn't work, guess I will weld a nut on the bolt.
BTW ... The sticky in the sections says to remove the bolt/pin then remove the shaft. Is the shaft he is referring too, the part that is in the middle of the pin? Does it just pull out?

Get an extractor bit before you weld a nut.

There is what appears to be a bearing cap near the head of that bolt. Can it be removed to give me a better angle to the head of the bolt?

I got it. Removed one of the lateral supports to give me more leverage on it. Clamped a pair of vice grips on it and gave it a fast, hard whack and it broke free. Had to remove the bearing cap to get the bolt all the way out. Next question, when I pulled one of the axles out, I found an 0-ring laying in the axle housing. Where does this go?

You can apparently see my post about the o-ring since you answered but I can't see it. Strange. I will get a pic of the o-ring tonight. It is laying in my drain pan.

It may be that you have not enough post count to post pics yet.
You also need to use photobucket or similar, copy the url for the pic and post it in the pic icon in the above icons.

Just a regular o-ring. When I look at the full part listing of the differential, I don't see an o-ring at all.

OK, I'm a dumb a$$! I looked this over a little better last night and it is the spring ring from the axle seal. Duh!!
