left rear ABS speed sensor for 01 WS6 A4 W/ trac

Don't want to order one online just to find out it's not actually the problem, would rather just try a cheap used one first

I would hit the local parts store and plug in their brake code scanner. It'll tell you which sensor (if any) is acting up. Also, have you looked back there to confirm that the harness is plugged into the sensor and that the pins are not bent? Last ABS light I had was just an unplugged sensor on our Suburban I had knocked loose while working on something else.

If you have a scanner which reads ABS, you can also monitor the speed at each wheel to determine which sensor is faulty, if any. That's how I found out my right rear one had went bad.

Left rear reads 0 mph. Connections are clean and solid.

I'd guess the sensor is bad then, assuming the car was in motion when you took the reading lol.

My guess would be that they probably used that same sensor on all sorts of vehicles from around that time period. Boneyard?
