    Protect your rubber

I had a few Firebirds in my life but this is the first one I have that has t-tops and I noticed it has a lot of rubber seals, around the hatch and up at the t-tops and down the door and if thats not enought Pontiac put rubber seal around the engine so when the hoods down its sealed.

My question is what kind of protection does every body use on the rubber so it don't dry out, this is really nessary at the t-tops so they don't leak.

I use a trim detailer by Meguiars. For plastics and rubber. It is not greasy you just have to work it through.

So what protection did you use? My buddy is acquiring this Firebird from his uncle and the rubber seals need some attention. We'll work on it after we finished installing the suspension from 4Wheelonline onto the current Wrangler project. The Firebird has been sitting for about 3 years, hope the rust isn't too bad.

I was asking what every body uses but right now I use spray silicone, spray it on a rag and then wipe it on the rubber.

A friend also advises you to use silicone spray, I wanted to ask you as an experienced person.Does it harm the lacquered surface of the car body or not?

That's why you spray it on a rag and then wipe it on the rubber.
