    Car alarm VATS

Any of you guys have your alarm go off for no apparent reason. Its to the point I either need to put a switch on the horns or sell the car. I need my sleep!

p.s. Is there a way to program the horns out of the VATS system?

It's not the vats. Unplug the motion detector in the back hatch where the spare tire is stored and it will quit going off. When they go bad it causes the alarm to go off randomly. Should be a little box with a dial on it that is mounted to the top of the wheel well.

You know I was thinking...I live in florida and its thunder season now, rain beating down on the car, massive thunder, lightning. Why has it never gone off before?

Could just be going bad... easy to test it.

Could be overly sensitive...turn the dial down some, lock the car, and then hit the fender with your hand lol easiest way I know to dial it in...

The shock sensor case gets condensation inside and corrodes and shorts out the circuit board.....open it up ...dry it out and clean up the board.

Happened to mine last year and after i did my fix its been fine since, I sprayed a bit of WD-40 in there before putting it back together.

if i use the key to lock the door, the alarm is disabled, right? reason i ask is when i use the remote to enter the car, the LED is still blinking. when i shut the door and use the key the LED is off. Why does it still blink when you enter the car with the remote.
