As far as why they do it...most of them are immature teenagers who have watched Fast & Furious too many times. I've found that they actually think they have a chance, but then when you hand them their ass they wine and say "Oh but you have a V8, and I almost had you."
Thats only a small part of the imports out there.

Sorry to break it to you, but thats the majority of imports out there. For every 10 modified/riced imports, there's about one nice/fast one. Thats just the way it is. Be proud that you aren't one of the other 9, your car looks good.

I see what you're saying, but thats really not how it works. What makes a car an import or Domestic depends on where the company originated or is based. So just because GM assembled the F-Bodies in Canada does not make them Canadian, it makes them American cars built in Canada. They are still designed and sold in America, and the profits go back to GM, which is of course American.

It makes me sick when people say "my Honduh is American cuz it was built in Ohio". No, its a Japanese car assembled in the U.S. Its still designed in Japan, and the profits and economic gains go back to Japan. Its not supporting our country, and if anything its an insult. Reason being that the Japanese say they do it to "support out country", but the reality is they do it because its cheaper, nothing more. Of it was cheaper to build them overseas and ship them, believe me, they wouldn't have one plant in the US. Thats just how it works, take it for what it is.

You are right and wrong. If a car is designed in Japan and assembled here in lets say Ohio, well of course the Japanese car company is going to reap profits however they are employing US workers in those assembly plants.

Thats true, but the pathetic reality is they only do it because its cheaper for them. They don't give a rats ass about "helping our economy" or "employing US workers", its all about saving money. Hell, they don't even have a union for the people that work in their plants.

Believe me, if it became cheaper to build the cars overseas and import them, those plants would be closed down instantly

^I was going to say it, but I thought I'd wait to see if anyone else would...

Ford and the other domestic companies that are employing the other countries workers and closing down plants in the US, really helps our economy... Atleast the import manufacturers are giving US citizens jobs...
