Fixed, hell yeah.
New dvd sata 3 drive. Old ide was the problem. Wonder if i should ask for my money back from the shop since i fixed it?

took 15 mins to install Win 7 and 7 mins for Office 2010
still took 30 mins for firefox do download, I swear it's Microsoft screwing with it...

Actually the drive wasn't the problem...there is a setting for Intel's ICH I/O controller that affects how it initializes drives. Your new board would be set to "SATA only" or "AHCI" from the factory. You would need to change that to "SATA/PATA" or "Compatible". The SATA or AHCI modes do not support the old PATA protocol's DMA requirement. Originally Posted by SMWS6TA
