after reading lots of reviews on the two of them it seems like the biggest problem with the mighty vac is that its made of plastic. however it doesn't seem to break often. the harbor freight one, even though its mostly metal it seems to be poor construction, fails often, and the pump stroke seems to be less then it should be to achieve a usable vacuum.
Needless to say i went with the mighty vac.

I agree. Look over any tools you get from there VERY carefully, and if it's over $50, get the warranty. The only tools I buy from there are ones I plan on using a few times.

I went with the mightyvac. Glad I did too because my buddy bought the HF one and then called me to come over with mine after he broke his.

I got a HF one for Christmas one year, IT NEVER WORKED! Big bulky cast stuff might be ok, other stuff from there is likely crap!

Shit I'm old. My Mity Vac is made from cast aluminum. Worked ok back in the day, I quit using it about 10 years ago.

Stay away from Harror Freight unless you need a "one time" tool. Go with Mightyvac all day long.

I did end up going with the Mighty Vac, and honestly its a waste of time. none of the attachments seal well, and there is always a leak somewhere. It honestly seemed like a waste of time and i ended up just going old school with it and pumping the pedal....

My Mity-Vac (plastic version) works just fine -- have used on a regular basis for years now.

it has potential, i just need to get the fittings to seal right. At the time i was trying to use it it was like 101 out and i just wanted to get shit done.

My MityVac was something like bucks shipped. Your trying to go cheaper then that? At some point the money saved equals a Wednesday cheeseburger or something and you're left with uncertainty about the tools lifespan.
