I agree I like the ls3 better also, more torque, bigger cubes, and better fuel economy too I just want it in a lighter car like an fbody. However the fact is that 5.0's are faster in bolt on form than the camaro simply because they weigh less. Many 5.0 dip into the 11's with a tune, dr, exhaust and thats it.. Sure an ls1 fbody will do that too but it takes a few more mods and the 5.0 is also trapping 5-7 mph more....I love the ls motors and always will but I must give credit where its due and the fact is that the 2011 gt is faster mod for mod than the ls3 camaro.

he saying that because how i pulled on him and the hype that got doesnt match up to their roll races, and when he got his car on his way home he ran one from a 55 when he was in 4th gear and they stuck even untill he shifted at 4500rpm into 5th the 5.0 started to pull. He was still getting used to his car so he didnt want to hurt it.

I'm not sure how a bone-stock GT running 12.70's - 12.80's is "pathetic".
It's faster than any bone-stock 4th Gen F-body(LS1) I've ever heard of.
Once again, people comparing apples to oranges. But, that will never end.
Jeez, I'm not even a Ford guy........but be realistic!

Agreed. Let's not turn this thread into a Ford vs Chevy debate/argument. It will be closed.

I was handed the keys to a 5.0 at the track last weekend. I believe the mods were track wheels and tires, cold air kit, exhaust and tune. I was told to drop the clutch at 5,500 -- which there is no way I was going to do that with someone else's car. The thing was f-a-s-t and I was duly impressed. I raced it soon after with the Trans Am and got smoked.

I think the list in the sig is fairly up to date -- I'm a 12.7 second car right now as the engine is all stock, so not fast... but he destroyed me even after I treed him. The timeslip is in the center console of the car, but it is parked 100 miles from home right now, or I could post what he ran.

Well... the "Show your signature" didn't work, so here it is: Moser 12 bolt, 3.73's, Eaton True Trac, UMI: LCA's - Panhard - SFC's - Tunnel Mount T/A, Magnaflow Catback, SLP Lid & Line Lock, Performabuilt Level II, 3,200 stall, Kooks LT's & Catted-Y, PST Driveshaft, DMH cutout, Tuned by Frost, Afterthoughts FRCs, ts|s Emblems

You can see a sig in Post #30?
I think it was just a catback. I may see him again in the next few weeks and will be sure to take a better look at his car.

the 5.0 u ran was probably an auto, from roll races auto's are not impressive. So I agree with Jeff's experience. Friend has an auto 5.0 so thats where I get my facts from.
