good write up. sticky vote. I tried dropping my tank but mine is metal and couldn't clear the neck. I even dropped the whole rear end and no clearance. it was still stuck. It was getting caught at the opening for the neck to go to the gas cap door. I ended up doing the trap door.

congrats on the sticky. I'm sure you could bud. I was just tired of messing around with it for hours. Then on top of that i had a leak in the plastic tube from the racetronix pump so after all that I needed to drop the tank again, no thanks.
I also hit the float wire and it got abit out of adjustment. now a full tanks shows abit less than the full mark in the gauge. Not a big deal.

Very informative with great pics. Not sure why I missed this thread when it was originally posted.

I'll probably get started on mine in the next few weeks. Been going strong on the Olds lately.

    I'll add 4 things.

    1. 98's have a different pump and instructions. Make sure you get the right pump for your car.

    2. When you go to reinsert the assembly it will fight you. The float wants to hang up on baffle in the tank.you have to angle it or use something to bend the assemble. It has a spring so you can move the bracket.

    3. Those rubber feet are a Major PITA to get on.

    4. If you are dropping the tank, like I did, you need one more person. Have the tank with the least amount of fuel possible. For every gallon you're adding approx. 6.6 lbs per gal. (14 gals = about 92 lbs of dead weight)

^^^^^ all very true. it took me a few trys to figure out what the hell was going on when I tried to get my pump back in. its has to go in at a weird angle back towards the back of the car. its an awkward process lol

Also, if it has been pointed out, the first picture in the set I provided has the Racetronix box with 98 specific product number if that helps any

Looks like I need to order filter socks before I get started. I just read through the entire thread again in preparation.
