WEIGHT-SAVING for more speed? Most of you guys/gals have heard that Penske used to acid-dip the steel body panels on his racers to reduce weight before he got caught. And lots of folks drill holes in the steel parts all over.
Has anybody found a super lightweight spare tire & alloy rim for 4th Gen F-bodies?

For just driving around I keep the spare, however on track nights it's taken out.

My Hoosier front runners (skinnies) on Bogarts are super light weight. One of those would make a decent spare tire replacement and shave some poundage.

Yesterday actually. Was waiting for the left-turn signal and started fixing my hair in the mirror. Rushing from home to an early-morning medical appointment. Someone behind honked at me, I looked up, and gunned it. When I looked back, that vehicle was a half-block behind me It's nice to have an old, high-mileage car that can do things many newer cars can't and still looks good.

What did you do with your Trans Am today?
On test drive after installing new driveshaft & axle bearings. Finally without worry of blowing out my oem driveshaft I unleased it at a 3500 rpm clutch dump and Good God she can move out!!! My nose came up the highest I've ever felt.
Need to "borrow " a set of slicks or DR's to play with to see just how much a difference.

What did you do with your Trans Am today?
on street tires I was fine with the oem. At the track I got zero traction if I launched over 2500ish rpm. But once you swap over to slicks/DR's that's a hole different matter. I've seen guys be ok with it under 430 but I've also seen guys on stock hp run slicks and break them too. Most times the 10 bolt is the weak link. Next is the driveshaft.
