Overpriced, yes. Overrated, yes. Junk, not at all. At least that was our experience after 8 years of ownership. We sold the Harley in 2008 and bought a 1985 Monte Carlo SS. Have not owned a street bike since. My only two wheel ride now is this:

Having not owned an HD myself I can't say with any certainty, just what I hear from the riders I talk to. Most talk about having the bike in the shop more than riding it, heh. Now, I was raised on an HD so don't get me wrong, they are an American icon.

One of the best feelings in the world is smoking a bike in your car. Been able to do that a few times now.

Yeah it's only that expensive since I went all out and went with some high end parts lol. It will be worth it.

It would have to be a fairly slow bike for that to happen. The HP to weight ratio is insane on most sport bikes. Mine has around 115hp currently with a 530 or so weight with a full tank.

So if you multiplied that by 6, to make it comparable to a f-body on weight, you'd get around 690hp. Right? Doesn't seem like it would have to be a slow bike to me.

I've beaten two HD's (one from a slow roll and another from a dig) and 2 crotch rockets, one from a 50mph roll on the highway and the other from a dig.

Oh, two of them had a passenger on them though so they probably don't count, but I still consider it a win....much like anyone would if they beat another car that had a passenger lol.

HD are slow as all get out compared to pretty much any sport bike. I'm not saying it can't be done. I have yet to find a car that will spank my bike. Liter plus bikes usually start out running 10s in the quarter stock.

I think a lot has to do with how you're racing too. Obviously from a dig I can get out of the hole much quicker than a bike on the street, and by the time it's playing catch up, we're shutting it down. Can't be going 120+ on the main road here which is where a lot of this goes down. Speed limit on it is 45-55, and it's very well traveled. I was even surprised at the highway roll race though. I was right in my sweet spot and in the right gear when I hit it and I pulled on him and kept pulling on him. Maybe he shut it down early. Not sure. Didn't have a chance to talk to him. I need to get my car DYNO'd again. During my first tune I was around 693 at the crank. I'm closer to probably 640 now....wanted to keep the motor from blowing up for awhile lol.

See, I find it strange that you were pulling on a sport bike from a dig. I have to moderate mine or else I'd flip over, haha. But then maybe you have massive HP I don't know about in the low range. Or maybe my bike is weird in that it's motor pulls like a train from 2000 to 10000

I don't know really. My car literally spins up to redline stupid fast with the blower and 4.11 gears. I'm shifting out of first before I'm through an intersection lol. Don't really care for that. Wish I would have went with a much higher gear ratio like a 3.23.

Oh, and the dig was the Harley Davidson, not a sport bike. Though, I'd imagine I'd still beat a sport bike off the line because you can't really full throttle it off the line with a sport bike like you mentioned. Maybe I'm wrong. Come to Indiana and we can have fun experimenting.

I'd love too, gotta put a hitch on the bird to haul the bike ROFL. I'm hoping to do a big tour on the bike in the next couple years, maybe I can swing by

I need to just go buy a damn TransAm so I don't feel guilty for posting in here. Apparently all the Camaro people left the site.

Anyone have suggestions on what heat range spark plug they'd run on a 421 stroker with 12:1 compression on 93. I've been thinking either BR6EF or BR7EF.

Hey like your bike always liked that style, as far as hp numbers it's more like 96 with a great tourqe number. With a mid 11 second quarter mile time isn't to shabby but there are lots and I mean lots of STREET cars that will smoke that number..... CPops N/A car run's there. Have a buddy with a 8 second street driven T/A. I had a fully built Suzuki GSXR 955 that was rated at 150 h.p. And weight was around 450lbs and was a true monster and I thought could take anything until I started hanging around the track and seeing what times some guys were banging out in street cars they drove in to the track. My eyes were opened and my mouth closed. I'd watch before challenging a boosted LS1.....hahahaha

Some of the boosted cars out there are just plain silly. I've seen 1000+ hp street cars pull on bikes on the highway, I have also seen some bikes that are just crazy fast. Video's don't lie. I have myself beat a few street bikes, but I have no knowledge of what they had done to their bikes. They may have been stock, or just novice riders. Don't know. I myself have a 1984 Honda VFR1000R . I know my bike and my Procharged TA would be a close race. Never underestimate your opponent.
