Very true about the cost difference. I would have to figure out another location for my catch can since it sits in the alt relocation spot. Another reason I am considering a manual rack is that it removes more drag from the drive belt without that pulley and pump there. Not to mention frees up some more room in the engine bay. Decisions are hard, haha.

I've been considering a manual rack as well. I wonder how would a manual rack fair in a road race scenario?

While I don't have any direct experience with RR, I would imagine that it might be a little more tiring on your arms in the corners. Although the way I understand it, the Madman rack is supposed to be very close to a powered rack in terms of ease to move the wheels. Other than at a dead stop of course.

Yeah that is what Jeremy (ls1camino) told me as well. So by that it shouldn't really have much if any impact during a RR event since I would be moving, I wouldn't think it would anyways.

You are probably right as to it having little or no impact on the driving itself unless you were looking to drop a little weight off the car. Or if you want to eliminate the need to worry about over heating the PS fluid.

On another note, I drove her to work for the first time since I finished the T56 swap. Cruising down the interstate at 75 mph in 6th gear I was only running at 1500 rpm, haha. Go go auto gearing!

Yes to both and to clear up the engine bay.

Did i miss something, or is there no spring belt tensioner? There must be a screw jack on the back of the alt to keep tension.

The Madman Manual Rack has a higher drive ratio so turning is almost as easy as with a power steering rack. Also, once the tires are moving, I barely notice the difference.

Even with 275s up front? Meaning no reason to run skinnies? Do you think this would be fine to use on a RR track? I really want to delete it but if it would be more of a hindrance on a RR track I won't, the same with ABS (except I am definitely doing that). I am also getting rid of my air bags and putting a smaller wheel in place of the stock steering wheel.

When I get my car up and running, you are more than welcome to come take it for a quick spin to test out the steering before you spend the $600+ on the setup.
