My First Kill (Z28 vs Mustang)

Ive had my car for about 3 months now and I finally got to see what it can really do today. On my way to work today I get behind this mustang...well the road were on is one lane for the most part but a couple areas it splits into 2 lanes(perfect for a nice run). When we get to where it first splits into 2 lanes i gun it by him not really knowing if he wanted to go or not, but he catches up quick so i know its on..the road goes bck to 1 lane for about a mile then bck to 2 lanes again...as soon as we get bck to 2 lanes i let him get beside me were both going about 60 i give him a nod and we both kick it about the same time he stays with me for about 2 seconds and then i started pulling away from him...got up to about 130 and let off by then i had him by 5 car lengths or more My car is bone stock for the most part didnt think i would have smoked him like that...I guess chevys are better than fords...j/k

assuming both are relatively stock he woulda been back by bus lengths if he missed a gear. until the 05 body style the base gt was behind the ls1 f bodies performance wise. again assuming both are relatively stock. before you spend on the cai look up the free mods. there are quite a few and they are pretty cheap. a lid and the free ram air mod is pretty much the cai for these cars because the position of the air box.

Is there somewhere on here that has a list of some of the free mods?

ummm stock vs stock you and an 05 gt ls1 wins everytime.. I dont know why he said that above. (not trying to be a dick) but if there is something im missing please inform me. I have played with an 05 gt and i mean played... Also op even you being an auto, still turned out like i would think. those gt's are pathetic in the 02 body style.

Stock LS1 shouldn't have a problem with any GT's unless you end up next to a new 5.0. I ran my friends ok both bolt ons and he has a 5 spd and I can walk away with my A4 like nothing. Only car you have to look for is the 03,04 Cobra with the lip wing on the trunk. I ran a stick on in my full bolt on LS1 and we were even, if my car was still stock he would have walked away. Good kill. I have a 93 5.0 auto vert and hate getting stuck next to a Ls1 or even LT1 car since mine is a pretty stock can and not very impressive but can never find those people when I have my TA.

    im guessing a 13.6-13.4 if you have a decent 60'. i ran a 13.4 @ 105 completely stock on street tires

yeah it all depends on traction and your 60' i went to the track a few weeks ago and put a buddies slicks on and dropped .2 in the quarter mile just cause i could actually hook

seat time and DA will get you a lot more than .2 quicker with slicks. if you get it on the right day that .2 can turn into .4 or .5.

as far as 1/4 mile times. dont get too caught up on the low 13s. low 13s in a stock car is something that occurs with a low DA. im positive the stock f bodies that have hit 12s were in negative DA. 10 sec car in a negative DA can be a high 11 sec car in 7k DA.
