Looking at one this afternoon. How can I tell if it is a true collectors edition. Codes on the door?

Call a GM dealer with the vin. If it's check the door jams and hatch.area.and under the hood is it is all yellow most likely it's a collectors edition since I.don't know anyone who would waste the.money trying to make.a clone of one.

ive seen it done at a pontiac show and go... it was something crazy like a 94 and he changed it all up to look like a CETA... if i recall.. i know it sounds crazy.

Look for option code Z15 on the driver door decal. Z15 is the code for the Collector Edition package.

CEs are also the only '02s to get paint code 54U and interior code 194.

    2002 CETA m6

All above are good ideas, but you can also look at all the CETA extras. The embroided headrests, silver badging on the side, BLACK ws.6 emblem, the center caps on the wheels, and most come with a large leather mat that says collector edition on it thats stored in the trunk....at least mine did.

Cloning a CETA can be done but to do it convincingly would take a bit of money to get all the correct parts. Too much effort make it worth the while.

This way is easier and safer than any other, look for Z15.

Not really a hater of them at the same time I wouldn't buy one. But mostly making a convincing clone would be a costly color change paint job and some interior pieces plus the decal kit for the exterior.
I have a white 98 TA and my favorite is.the 99 anniversary edition. But even with my car being the proper color I would have to get the decal kit for the exterior, new white leather and interior trim pieces, plus a set of blue wheels all combined together it would be cheaper to just buy a.real one since resale on it later would be a lot more than a fake unless you find someone who doesn't know to check door codes or run the vin#'s. Not cost effective in my mind at least.
Saying that my friend has a supercharged CETA and it's cool looking with the mods he has just not my taste. I prefer a SOM car. To easy their own just seems like a.waste making a fake.
