The code is for Bank 1 Sensor 1. That means upstream sensor on the driver's side of the car. Nothing to do with the rear O2's or catalytic converters.
What typically triggers this code is a worn out O2 sensor. As the sensors get old, they start to switch slower, and the PCM sees this as a degradation in performance and sets a code. What also throws this code is LT headers, which you just installed. Because the O2 is further downstream than it is stock, it takes longer for the O2 sensors to heat up and begin switching. So if you have an older sensor, switching to LTs will only worsen the problem.
I've replaced multiple O2s in my own car, LT's kill them because they run way too cool being located to far from the engine. The best thing you can do is go to your local auto parts store and buy a Bosch 13111. They have an extra long harness, and better heating elements (supposedly). I've found that they hold up the longest.

Then it has to be the front o2s. Did you put extensions on them or did you buy the longer Bosch ones?

you DO NOT want to delete it the front o2 sensors are what help control the fuel and air delivery i thought about doing it as well cause mine has thrown that code before but my mechanic said that it helps tell the computer how much air the motor is pushing out wich tell the computer what the fuel and air mixture is. as well as messes with the timing curve

No im not going to delete my front sensors nor erase the codes, obviously there is a problem with something that needs to be taken care of, its just a matter of what it is?????

They get nasty really easily and all the crap that gets on them starts to mess with the way that they read but you cant really do anything about it but which brand did you get and how much?

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
x2..the more i read...the more i see it not really mattering ..it is my understanding that it is emission test and is calibrated/designed for a stock system.
that is because once this code is thrown it goes into SD mode
are you talking about deleting the front o2 or deleting the slow switching code ? deleting the code will only be a issue if the o2 is hanging or just not switching...but most of the time you are fine. deleting the front o2s takes a lot of work but can be doneLast edited by shady milkman; 09-27-2010 at 01:10 PM.
