Trick Flow Specialties 11 Second 1998 Chevy Camaro Project Car - 11s For 14 - Speed Parts Testing

Going quick and doing it cheaply is a time-honored rodder's mantra, and Trick Flow Specialties' '98 Camaro Z28 proves the concept is still valid. You can drive it to the track, run 11-second e.t.'s all day, and get 25 miles per gallon on the way home with the A/C on Arctic and the power seat set to full Detroit Lean.Going quick and doing it cheaply is a time-honored rodder's mantra, and Trick Flow Specialties' '98 Camaro Z28 proves the concept is still valid. And that's with no blower, no nitrous, nothin' but motor. Total cost for the Stage One version: a smidgen less than $14,000, and that includes the purchase price of the car. Stages Two and Three got more serious and far more expensive in a quest to go faster, but you don't have to do that if it's too much.

What a complete waste of an article. They spent 3 times too much for half the results. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that the TFS product was crap, solely based upon their subpar results.

11.8 @ 114 is a joke, even on a regular street tire. You don't need a $1000 FAST intake and $3000 aftermarket heads for that. Bolt-ons, small cam, and a converter will get you there. Including cost of an average LS1 car, those mods would put you well under $10K.

They bought the car for $6000, and put over $8000 into it, for a high 11 second pass with a weak trap speed.

Yeah I wasn't too impressed with that either. I thought it was cool they did the article, but when I got to the end of it and saw what they spent, I was a little dissapointed.

I mean you couldn't buy a new car that quick for anywhere near that price, but still.

Yeah, the thing had 150k on it IIRC. I thought that was pretty high mileage to start with. Plenty of these left with under 100k I'd think. Mine's a DD and I'm still under 100k.
